We all know why kindness is so important, but how can it be taught? These four lessons show through carefully crafted original passages that kindness can be taught through reading. Informational passages show students the power their words have and the science of kindness. Students will learn about the physical changes that take place in the human body when a person does something kind and helpful for another person. After reading a humorous realistic narrative, they will learn new ways to handle rudeness when the main characters encounter a familiar situation: dealing with a bully. Through another short narrative, students will see how one person's unexpected act of kindness ripples through a quiet neighborhood.
